Music-at-Hill runs as a tight ship, but our concert society still has quite substantial outgoings - we need to pay for our venue, remunerate our musicians and meet core costs such as publicity, printing and performing rights fees. If you feel able to help us with any of your hard-earned cash, we will be ever so grateful. There are several ways of donating, including dropping your coins or (hopefully) notes in the collection basket at concerts, or online via our JustGiving page. It’s also possible to gift aid your contributions - please speak to any committee member for details.
Our society could not function without the help of its volunteers. There are a number of tasks that need doing, both front of house and behind the scenes - from welcoming punters to manning the refreshments table, from assisting with our concert publicity to doing the financial figurework. We don’t expect you to give up oodles of time - though being generally free on Fridays is a good start! If you enjoy classical music and you like meeting and mixing with a variety of quirky people, then do get in touch and we can certainly find a useful role for you.
We’d love to get our concert series more widely known, and the best way of doing that is by word of mouth. There’s no substitute for personal recommendation from people who’ve previously experienced the buzz of Bach or Beethoven in those St Giles pews! Help us to tap into those tourist hordes on Tottenham Court Road and spread the word to your music-loving friends, neighbours and work colleagues.
Above all else, our musicians need listeners. Without an audience, we might as well pack our bags and head for that desert island! So please join us on Friday lunchtimes, and look out for the occasional rush-hour or evening concert which we also hold. Our season’s programme is available here.
